When we get the opportunity to remodel a home situated on a golf course, we know our focus is on the view.  Entering our client's home, the first thing we noticed (besides the beautiful view) was how dark the living room was. With that being said, we knew instantly we wanted to carry the brightness in and bring light to the living room and throughout the home.

Living Room

The first area we wanted to address was the fireplace as it served as the focal point for the entire room. The fireplace was originally dark brick with a dark wood mantle surround. It was hard to distinguish any details in the fireplace and mantle so we decided to paint it all white. By making that one change, it immediately helped to brighten the space. We replaced the windows on either side of the fireplace with full pane windows to also open up more lighting into the main living room. Sticking with a lighter brighter theme, we chose the shade Revere Pewter, a light gray with warm tones, by Benjamin Moore to replace the two different darker shades they originally had on the walls. Just the few small paint updates made a world of difference in the feel of this space. Gotta love the power of paint.

The living room also had a great built-in bookshelf that we made a few minor changes to. We removed the glass shelving, added in wood shelves and replaced the glass front doors on the base of the cabinet to full panel doors to create more functional closed storage. To finish off the updated look, we added new hardware as well.

In the center of the living room, we added a Sarah Rolled Arm Sofa and loveseat combo covered in Crypton stain-free fabric. Our clients expressed that the living room was where they spent the majority of their time, so it had to be user-friendly for both them and their daughter. A pair of Catalina nesting tables with copper tops were situated in front of the furniture to also give the space a nice flow and function. Thinking of durability and the high traffic of the room, we placed our beautiful Journey Navy rug with a pattern to hide any wear, tear and stains that may occur. We love the pattern and relaxed feel it gives the whole space. 

Not wanting to miss out on all the natural light, we placed one of our favorite chairs, the Maxx Swivel Chair, in front of one of the big windows to create a nice reading area. To top off that nook area, we added the Adrian floor lamp as well for some task lighting.

Hall Bath

Heading into the hall bath, we made quite a few changes to update the feel and functionality of this area. We removed the soffit to open the space and turned the double sink vanity into a single sink to allow more counter space. We placed the cutest gray and white basketweave mosaic tile on the floor and carried a bright clean subway tile halfway up on the wall with a chair rail piece to cap it off.  The clients' daughter uses the hall bath, so we added soft pink accents throughout to give it a feminine touch. 

A unique feature that was added to the hallway bathroom is that the vanity has a bottom pull-out step stool for their daughter to be able to use.  As she gets older, that step stool will then turn into a storage area for her belongings.  The vanity faucet is also wall-mounted which is great for cleaning as well as a space saver.

Master Bedroom

The master bedroom was a big focus area for the clients and their home remodel. They had great foundational pieces, we just needed to bring in a few items to help break up their bedroom set, add layers of texture and some pattern into the space. We started by removing the french doors that they had leading out to their deck, and replaced them with sliding glass doors. We carried the living room and hallway color, Revere Pewter by Benjamin Moore, into the master as well to make the transition from room to room feel more uniform and cohesive, therefore expanding the feel of each space and entire home. One of their pieces was a dresser with a mirror attached. Simply removing the mirror and adding in a statement mirror in a different finish went such a long way. Our Hudson mirror is one of our bestsellers; we love the rivets on the frame and makes any space feel more current and modern. For our clients, a fan was a must have in their bedroom. We knew our favorite modern La Salle Fan would be the perfect streamlined addition into the space. Its clean lines still work great in a transitional space without feeling too modern.

Primary Bathroom

The master bath was one of our favorite remodels to date. It used to be two separate rooms, but we removed the separating walls and soffits to make it one large open space. On the wall opposite the vanity was a closet, which we removed to allow space for a makeup vanity and cabinets for much needed storage. At the end of the bathroom, we added a frameless shower to create an open feel throughout. Our favorite addition in the master bath is this amazing cement patterned tile we used on the floor. We absolutely love the feel of it and the pattern is everything, right?! We complimented this pattern with a clean subway tile in the shower. 

We loved having the opportunity to transform the 3 most used rooms of this family's home. Our goal was to bring the beautiful landscape in and make each space lighter and brighter. In the end the fresher feel in just these 3 spaces transformed the whole feeling of the house.
