This project started a little different from most for us. Unlike the majority of our remodels, we were coming into a home that had already been completely renovated. The previous owners had entirely restored the older home, leaving us and our clients a totally fresh slate. With little to do remodeling wise, we had the opportunity to get creative with just our furnishing choices.  

Our clients each had a bit of a different preference in style, which was our first challenge. He was more traditional, while she preferred more modern. With that in mind, we knew we needed to create a space that blended the two. We opted for picking out classic pieces with a cleaner spin and simple lines. We also wanted to keep in mind their needs as a family of four. They were in need of a versatile space where they could entertain, but still be practical and durable for their normal family hangouts.

In the entryway, there wasn’t much space, forcing us to get inventive with the small wall between the dining room and hallway. By placing a console table with 3 large drawers, yet still a completely open base, it allowed for plenty of storage without being too heavy of a piece for a small area. We went with one of our personal favorites, the Kenitra mirror, above the console. It helps to reflect light and also works as a focal point with its interesting lines and brass details. The Delane lamp, touches of greenery and few other accessories made for the perfect entryway setup and drop zone.

This area opened up into their dining room which didn’t need much work. Our clients had an existing table they wanted to use, so we freshened it up by pairing it with our Lewis Windsor chairs. The black oak finish is extremely versatile and a great way to add interest while avoiding the “matching set” set look which is a common design mistake.

We wanted to put a lot of our focus on the sitting room, or the coffee room as our clients like to call it. It is an inviting room right off the entryway and one of the only rooms in the house without a TV. That said, it is the quintessential space for everything from relaxing with coffee, entertaining friends and spending time as a family.

We started by placing the Habitat Sofa in the room, it has modern lines but still a very relaxed and comfortable feel. It is made of Crypton fabric, which is incredibly durable and makes the perfect fabric to stand up against kids and pets.  The deeper seating allowed us to have some fun and accessorize with plenty of pillows, adding to the style (& comfort) even more!

Next to the couch we placed two Rockwell crank tables. They are unique tables that are height adjustable, and in this space they helped to add some soft curves with their base. Above the couch we chose a pair of abstract art pieces, Gray Essence, that were still very neutral, but grounded the space.

Paired alongside the couch, we placed two leather chairs, the Fitz Chairs. They are the most modern element in the room, but just the right spin on a classic leather chair. Their sleek profile is also practical for not taking up too much space.

When picking out a coffee table for the space, we knew we wanted a piece that was extremely functional; something they could use for storage but still be elegant for entertaining purposes. The Dillon Coffee Table was ideal for this because part of it is open, while part of it is closed so it doesn’t scream “storage piece” and still looks very sleek. Also with entertaining in mind, we chose a statement bar cabinet to go alongside the wall. It too allows for plenty of storage while keeping items and clutter hidden.

The fireplace was already painted a beautiful bright white, so we stayed simple and put one of our favorite brass detailed mirrors, The Oryx Mirror, above the mantle.

Lastly, to tie the room together and add some color we found a beautiful one of a kind vintage rug. The pattern helps to hide dirt/stains, and with two little kids, we knew it would be good for wear and tear.  

One detail we kept consistent throughout all of the rooms, was our use of greenery! It instantly adds life to a space, and is always a great addition to an already bright home!
